How far has the major S21 construction project progressed, what measures have been implemented so far, what is still to come and, above all, what is the status of the centrepiece of the new station building, the Bonatzbau?
These and many other questions were at the centre of our excursion to the Bonatzbau in the major S21 project. Students from various semesters had the opportunity to experience the construction site up close and gain valuable insights into the different construction phases of the project.
Once everyone had been equipped with the necessary personal safety equipment such as helmets, high-visibility waistcoats and safety shoes, they headed straight to the construction site. After a brief look at the new platforms with their intermediate levels, the tour continued with exciting insights into geotechnical engineering: measures for securing the building site were presented, innovative methods for soil improvement were explained and impressive supporting and securing structures for the façades could be viewed. All the conditions and requirements of monument protection were taken into account.
Finally, there were exciting insights into the shell of the new Bonatzbau hotel. Many construction-related questions about clients and processes were discussed and it became clear just how complex and unique this building project is.
To round off the tour, there was a short presentation in which, among other things, the future construction stages were presented and open questions were answered in detail.
We would like to thank Ed. Züblin AG for the informative tour and the exciting insights into this outstanding construction project!
